  6. Dear DCF/2 Customer,

  8. Thank you for your patience.  Enclosed, at last, is your free update to DCF/2 
  9. Version 1.2.  Among the exciting improvements since the first version of the 
  10. DCF/2 released in May 1993 are the following: 
  11.  
  12.      o Compressed drives format in a matter of seconds. 
  13.      o Data inloads 10 times faster. 
  14.      o The DCF/2 allows you to create multiple compressed drives. 
  15.      o Shut down is now completely integrated with OS/2's shut down. 
  16.      o The DCAT and DCF2PAKR utility programs are included. 
  17.      o Complete documentation is available online. 
  18.  
  19.  The single enclosed disk provides you with everything you need -- including 
  20.  full documentation.  The information in online form is identical to that 
  21.  covered in the manual currently shipped with the DCF/2.  You can access the 
  22.  online documentation in several ways: 
  23.  
  24.       1. Prior to (or after) running the DCF/2 installation program, you can 
  25.          use OS/2's drives icon to double click on the disk's source drive 
  26.          object and then double click on the DCF2.INF object. 
  27.  
  28.       2. During the installation program, you can access the online help using 
  29.          the HELP button on the individual menus. 
  30.  
  31.       3. Finally, the installation program will place the "DCF/2 Online Help" 
  32.          icon on your desktop.  Double click on the icon to access online 
  33.          documentation at anytime. 
  34.  
  35.  If you installed -- and still have a VDU created under -- DCF/2 Version 1.1a, 
  36.  please refer to the section in the Appendix regarding converting Version 1.1a 
  37.  VDU's to Version 1.2.

  39.  If you participated in the DCF/2 beta program or downloaded a version of the 
  40.  DCF/2, you will use the installation program only to update the DCF/2 program 
  41.  files.  Use the "Update/Register Only" option on the installation menu.

  52. In response to requests from several DCF/2 Version 1.1b customers for copies of 
  53. the online documentation in manual form, we have printed additional copies of 
  54. the documentation and will provide it to registered users, upon request, for a 
  55. nominal charge.

  57. The cost is $6.00, plus a shipping and handling charge of between $3.50 and 
  58. $7.00, for each book.  Shipping and handling charges vary depending upon the

  76. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 3. Running the DCF/2 Installation Program ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  78. To run the DCF/2 installation program, insert the program disk in your source 
  79. drive, change to the source drive, and type:  INSTALL 
  80.

  82. compressed drives (Virtual Disk Units), please refer to the section on 
  83. "Installation" in either the online documentation or the DCF/2 Version 1.2 
  84. manual.
